Gateway Airport Authority Limited (GAAL)

Gateway Airport Authority Limited (GAAL) is a schedule 3D Limpopo Provincial Government public entity under the Budget of the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety (LDTCS).

GAAL was established in March 1995 in terms of the Companies Act, 1973 (Act 61 of 1973) (Act 71 of 2008). It is GAAL's mandate to manage all non-private airports in Limpopo including Polokwane International Airport, in compliance with various legislative and administrative Acts such as the South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) Act no 40 of 98.

The Limpopo province has approximately 56 airstrips and airports. These facilities need to be safe and secure and comply with the South African Civil Aviation legislation. To that end, the province registered a holding company: GATEWAY AIRPORT AUTHORITY LIMITED(GAAL) - the entity that manages and develop Limpopo airports to the benefit of all communities in the province. The primary role of these facilities is to provide ease of access to our province for both our tourist and investors.

The fastest growing province in the country and the plan is to:

• Establish industrial development zone
• Introduce a fresh product market
• Build a convention Centre

These initiatives offer growth opportunities for the airport

• Polokwane borders Botswana, Mozambique and Zimbabwe
